It's a Medieval Menage! Ravyn Rayne's Palace Secrets

Today I'm happy to host first-time guest Ravyn Rayne, talking about her new medieval romance Palace Secrets.  I love a book that transports me to another time  Historical romances require so much detail to make the reader sink into the story.  How much research do you do when you're writing a historical novel?

Ravyn:  Quite a bit. Everything from the word choice to the costumes has to be authentic. It may be fiction, but I want the reader to feel that they're right there with the characters in the medieval setting of the late 14th century.

Kallista: You've brought along a snippet to intrigue us, so let's dive into it!

     "Make a sound and you'll get another spanking," Alexander says. His tone is firm but light. Unlike the last time, he doesn't sound angry or disappointed with me. Is this how our lovemaking will be? 

     I'm both aroused and craving more of Alexander's affection. I bury my face into the pillow, trying my best not to make any noise. I moan quietly as his lashings grow harder, burning against my skin, making me wet. I'm glad Alexander's attention is on me. There's something about his power and control that fires me up inside.    Don't you just love the whips on either side of this week's logo?  Puts me in the proper mood for sharing an especially naughty snippet from His To Command, my new erotic Sci-fi romance.
   In this scene, Amanda has been publicly spanked and is now in the Lyceum, being introduced to her first session of mastery by two men.
