Mystery, Thrills, Romance - And Spankings! It's Patricia Green's Striker

They've got to find a cruel serial killer, but their attraction might be deadlier.
What a great tag line!  Patricia Green is with me today, bringing along an excerpt from her new release Striker.  It's a mystery, it's a suspense thriller, it's a spanking romance - everything we love in one package.

Here's a little taste:
Donati and I both sat. “What’s this about, Striker? Problems with the case already?”
“Not exactly, sir. More like with the partner you’ve given me. I’ve been operating pretty well since Smitty retired. I don’t need a wet-behind-the-ears rookie to babysit.”
He leaned back in his chair and looked at me, his eyes inscrutable. Perhaps five seconds passed. I began to think I was supposed to say something else, but finally, he spoke. “Piccolino is qualified, Striker, or I never would have assigned her to you. She was one of the best detectives on the Vice Squad, an undercover operative who pulled in the bad guys like nobody’s business. But she became a known quantity on the street. Crooks had a habit of getting put away when she was around, and it seemed wiser to give her a different assignment where she could be herself.”
“She looks like a teenager, sir. She even dresses like a teenager. Since when does a pink hoodie and a miniskirt qualify as professional clothes? How does that reflect on the department?”
“Yeah, I already talked to her about that. She’ll be more business-like in the future.”
I had my doubts, but kept them to myself. “How old is she? Twenty? How’d she get promoted so fast? Was she that hot with Vice?”
“She’s twenty-six, but you could have asked her yourself. Piccolino just looks like a teenager. It’s gotten her pretty far, but she’s done her time on the team. I think you’ll find her knowledgeable. The only thing is…”
Oh, great. There was a but in there. “Yeah?”
“She’s a little bit of a hotshot. Takes chances when maybe she shouldn’t. When she was out on the streets with punks on her case, she had to be sharp and steady working on her own. It got her used to risky police work.”
Honest to God, I tried not to grit my teeth. My dentist would have caught me, but Donati didn’t. “So, I’m supposed to keep her in line, while training her for the Homicide Division, and solving crimes. Piece of cake,” I said, scowling.
“Damn it, Striker. Stop whining and get to work. You have a partner. She’s talented. You have experience and will be perfect for showing her the ropes. Now, get outta here.”
Maybe I was whining. The thing is, I enjoyed working on my own. When my partner retired, it was like I’d been freed from lock down. I could handle the cases the way I wanted to, following a logical progression, rather than following hunches and guesses. Sure, sometimes a hunch can lead you to an answer, but just as often they waste your time. Maybe Piccolino was meticulous, too. I wouldn’t know if I didn’t give her a chance.
“Okay,” I said as I rose and turned toward the door.
     “Oh, and Striker—”
     “Yeah?”
     “Don’t fuck it up.”
What could I say to that? I twisted the doorknob and made my silent exit.

Jase Striker, police detective and gritty noire aficionado, doesn't want a partner on the job. When saddled with a sexy new colleague—a rookie in the Homicide division—he's at first irritable. Over time that irritation slowly morphs into a blistering passion, taking their partnership to a new, erotic level that includes a bare-bottomed spanking when needed. But he fears what mixing work with pleasure will do to his crime fighting abilities.
Rookie homicide detective, Angelica Piccolino, is tired of being treated like a kid though her diminutive size and grunge look add to that impression. But she's 26, and no stranger to the street or the bedroom. A real woman can take a spanking now and then...as long as it's from a man she respects.
Forced to work together as a team, Striker and Piccolino investigate a heartbreaking case involving three young women, murdered and left like human garbage, except for a single white rose.  The detectives need to discover the identity of the white rose murderer fast--before another victim turns up.

Rachel's Journey - A Cowboy Tale With a Unique Heroine

I'm pleased to welcome brand-new author Kelly Dawson as my guest today.  She's brought us Rachel's Journey, featuring a spanking cowboy from waaay Down Under - New Zealand to be precise.  Kelly, tell us what inspired you to write about Rachel?

Kelly:  Rachel’s Journey is very close to my heart. Like Rachel, I too, have Tourette’s Syndrome. I have tried to portray what it is like to live with this neurological disorder, and while Tourette’s affects everyone differently so each person’s experience is unique, it is my personal experience, how Tourette’s affects me, that is told in Rachel’s Journey.
In some ways, Rachel’s Journey is my biography, only fictionalized. Rachel’s circumstances are nothing like my own, but in all the ways that matter, Rachel is me.

Kallista:  Let's get to it!  I can't wait to find out more about you - um, I mean Rachel.  Just tell us, are the spanking scenes really about you too?
Excerpt:  The first time James spanks Rachel
With one hand pressed firmly between her shoulder blades holding her down, he used the other hand to smack her butt, hard.“Ow!” Rachel shrieked. Even through her jeans the smack had hurt! James smacked her twice more, even harder.
“Ow! Get off me you brute!” Rachel shrieked again. She struggled to get free and kicked out at his shins, but he held her down easily, ignored her yells, and continued to spank her butt ferociously, his large work-roughened hand covering most of her bottom with each smack and the force of the blows jarring her whole body. After another seven or eight whacks James let her up, but he stood in front of her, blocking her escape with his body.
As Rachel stood up, she glared at James, daggers shooting from her eyes. James knew that if looks could kill, he’d be shrivelling up and disappearing through the ground right about now.  But that didn’t stop him from continuing the lecture he’d started earlier. He found his best scolding voice.
“You are a brat. Why don’t you care about your personal safety? Or, come to think of it, the personal safety of anyone else who might be unlucky enough to be on the road at the same time as you?”
Rachel shrugged again. “I suck, ok? I don’t care about my safety because I don’t care about me! I thought you would have figured that out by now!”
James grabbed her by the shoulders and gave her a gentle shake, looking intently into her eyes. “No you do not suck. Why do you keep talking like that?

Rachel's Journey
Rachel was such a loser. Growing up with Tourette's Syndrome has taught her that. Who could possibly want someone who contorted their faces in bizarre twitches or snorted at random? Not even Mike, the man who had promised he loved her, had been able to put up with it. She brokeup with him when she caught him cheating on her during their great overseas experience, promptly flying back home to hide and lick her wounds.
James was the manager for the 850 acre farm she and her brother Simon had inherited.  She liked James. He'd always treated her nicely, like an honorary little sister, and she'd had a crush on him forever. Not that she could ever tell him. She wasn't going to set herself up for rejection ever again.
But when it seems that someone is out to harm her, can she count on James to come to her rescue?
Set in rural New Zealand, this epic romance will thrill you and keep you captivated, enchant you with charming detail and inspire you, as learning to overcome adversity ultimately is Rachel's Journey.

About Kelly
Kelly Dawson loves anything to do with horses, rodeos and cowboys, and loves to get lost in a good book - preferably a rural romance where a strong woman falls in love with a ruggedly handsome, tough but gentle cowboy, and these are the types of characters who feature in the stories she writes. Only in Kelly’s books, the cowboys are even better because they spank!
She lives literally at the bottom of the world in the South Island of New Zealand, with her husband, four kids, a dog and a cat.
